Executive Associate Dean Bush School of Government and Public Service Dr. Arnold Vedlitz is holder of the Bob Bullock Chair in Government and Public Policy and Director of the Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. He is a Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University and Professor of Health Policy at the Texas A&M Health Sciences Center and currently serves as Executive Associate Dean of the Bush School. He has served in a number of positions at Texas A&M University since 1973, including Director of the Technology and Society Division of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, Associate Dean, College of Liberal Arts, and Associate Provost for External Affairs. Dr. Vedlitz received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Government from Louisiana State University and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Houston. He is the co-editor of a new book forthcoming from MIT Press, author of an important book on public policy and author of dozens of scholarly articles and book chapters in the field of politics and public policy. He is principal investigator, co-principal investigator and senior research scientist on externally funded research projects totaling more than $4 million. These grants have been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research and numerous state agencies. He is a reviewer for the American Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, American Journal of Political Science, Social Science Quarterly and dozens of other scholarly journals and for the National Science Foundation. His teaching and research focus on science and technology policy, minority politics, public policy, inter-group conflict, American political behavior, urban politics, and political psychology. |
